Yolk Digital is looking to fill a role with Services Australia (SA). SA is front and centre of the Federal Government's vision to deliver world-class digital services to millions of Australians. They're engaging a Lead User Researcher (EL1 equivalent) to plan and run qualitative and quantitative research across complex, high-volume citizen-facing services, turn findings into clear recommendations, and help multi-disciplinary teams make better user-centred decisions. This is a hands-on lead role. You'll design and facilitate research with diverse and vulnerable audiences, oversee a rolling programme of testing activities, and coach other researchers and designers across the division. Your work will directly shape the usability, accessibility and effectiveness of services Australians rely on every day.
• Plan, facilitate and analyse qualitative and quantitative user research across complex user journeys, including with diverse and vulnerable audiences. • Organise participants, venues and incentives, and manage external recruitment vendors where needed. • Run information architecture research using industry-standard tools (tree testing, card sorts, first-click testing, surveys). • Document, collate and catalogue research findings so they're discoverable and reusable across teams. • Advocate findings to diverse audiences through clear written reports and presentations, and translate them into actionable recommendations. • Lead user-centred design and co-design activities, and contribute to prototype development and testing. • Advise on future improvements and help ensure the Agency's web properties meet legislative and channel best-practice requirements (including accessibility). • Collaborate closely with content designers, visual designers, developers, product owners, comms account teams and subject matter experts. • Coach and uplift other researchers and team members across the division and channel.

Lead - EL1 equivalent
Hybrid: The Labour Hire Worker is expected to work onsite for the first 6 weeks before a hybrid flexible working arrangement can be considered. A hybrid flexible working arrangement may then be considered, ensuring the Labour Hire Worker’s residing address is within reasonable travel time and distance of the RFQ location to present onsite in cases of emergency or to meet business requirements. The location is the capital city of selected state/s. Other RFQ locations include Robina and Coffs Harbour.

1. Demonstrable knowledge and experience with user-centred design practices for web across complex user journeys. 2. Proven experience leading, designing, facilitating and analysing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative user research methods, including information architecture research and use of industry-standard research tools. 3. Ability to identify user needs and communicate them in an informative, accurate and succinct way. 4. Outstanding skills in planning and prioritising tasks, and working under pressure to tight deadlines.
1. Experience working on large and complex websites. 2. Demonstrated ability to work within multi-disciplinary or agile project teams. 3. Sound verbal and written communication skills and good problem-solving skills. 4. Ability to manage and care for yourself and stay resilient in a challenging operating environment.
