We're seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to join the digital delivery ecosystem supporting VA/Services Australia, helping shape the ICT systems that serve veterans and everyday Australians. Working at the boundary between business and technology, you'll translate business needs into clear technical requirements and specifications that align with the relevant architectures. You'll design, analyse, evaluate and document ICT solutions across new and existing systems â writing functional specifications, proposing improvements to current systems and processes, and designing new solutions to meet needs captured in requirements documents and user stories. You'll bring, or quickly develop, working knowledge of Services Australia's software development lifecycle, tools, deployment procedures and cyber security policies, alongside industry best practice. Partnering closely with Software Architects, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Developers and Testers, you'll share one goal: building simple, helpful, respectful and transparent services for everyday Australians.
Key duties and responsibilities may include all or some of the following: ⢠perform detailed analysis and evaluation of business processes and requirements ⢠create solution designs and implement solutions to meet business needs ⢠create and maintain solution documents ⢠support daily operations and monitor performance of business solutions ⢠adhere to delivery and support methodologies and contribute ideas for improvement ⢠perform detailed technical application assessments considering feasibility, resource effort, risks and benefits ⢠conduct testing activities such as test planning, execution coverage reviews and defect management ⢠collaborate with stakeholders to define tasks, resolve issues, solve problems and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects ⢠undertake project quality management tasks such as peer and quality reviews of specifications, design and testing documents ⢠review research, process models and documentation of other staff, providing guidance and feedback ⢠resolve or escalate issues as required and suggest alternative approaches and solutions ⢠perform cost analysis activities as require ⢠manage the life cycle of changes and improvements to systems

Hybrid: Onsite work required for the first 6 weeks before a hybrid flexible working arrangement can be considered. A hybrid flexible working arrangement may then be considered, ensuring the workerâs residing address is within reasonable travel time and distance of the RFQ location to present onsite in cases of emergency or to meet business requirements. The location is the capital city of selected state/s.

1.Feasibility assessment: Level 4 (SFIA) Selects relevant feasibility assessment approaches and techniques. Identifies the range of possible options. Undertakes short-listing of options and feasibility assessment. Engages with internal and external stakeholders to get the information required for feasibility assessment. Supports preparation of business cases including cost/benefit, impact and risk analysis for each option. 2.Requirements definition and management: Level 4 (SFIA) Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity. Contributes to selecting the requirements approach. Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements. Establishes requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source. 3.Software design: Level 4 (SFIA) Designs complex software applications, components and modules. Uses appropriate modelling techniques following agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodology. Creates and communicates multiple design views to balance stakeholders' concerns and to satisfy functional and non-functional requirements. Identifies, evaluates and recommends alternative design options and trade-offs. Models, simulates or prototypes the behaviour of proposed software to enable approval by stakeholders, and effective construction of the software. Verifies software design by constructing and applying appropriate methods. Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications. Leads reviews of others designs. 4.Systems design: Level 4 (SFIA) Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and to handle functional and non-functional requirements. Models, simulates or prototypes the behaviour of proposed system components to enable approval by stakeholders. Produces detailed design specifications to form the basis for the construction of systems. Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications.
