Yolk Digital is seeking a Front-End Developer to join the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR), supporting the Chief Information Officer Division's delivery of major ICT projects across the organisation. DISR plays a central role in the Australian Government's economic agenda, working to build a productive, resilient and sustainable economy through investment in science, technology and industry growth. The CIO Division is seeking experienced professionals with a dual skillset across front-end development and user interface design, driving a human-centric approach to service delivery. Working within multidisciplinary agile teams, you will balance customer, business and technology needs to deliver intuitive, accessible and fit-for-purpose digital services through a lean design process of rapid prototyping, testing and iteration.
• Define, iterate and improve user-centric designs based on user feedback to continuously add value • Design and specify user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity interfaces • Plan and perform user experience evaluation to confirm usability and accessibility requirements are met • Implement UI components using HTML, CSS and JavaScript within an existing design system or style guide • Collaborate with user researchers and designers to translate usability testing findings into interface improvements • Translate designs, POCs and wireframes into high-quality front-end code with a focus on usability and accessibility outcomes • Advocate for user-centric design solutions and coach back-end engineers on usability and front-end development best practices • Communicate design decisions clearly through user flows, wireframes and prototypes to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience implementing responsive UI components for web applications using HTML, CSS, ReactJS and/or Angular • Proficiency with prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD or Axure • Strong understanding and application of design principles and design systems • Knowledge and implementation of WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility guidelines across visual design, page structure and code

1. UI Development — Demonstrated experience designing and developing user interfaces within an existing style guide and/or design system using HTML, CSS and a JavaScript framework such as ReactJS and/or Angular 2. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement — Effective communication skills with the ability to work with and influence multiple stakeholders, clearly articulating design decisions through a well-conceived rationale 3. Usability Testing — Demonstrated experience collaborating with others to translate findings from usability testing into actionable improvements to a user interface 4. Accessibility — Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a minimum standard
1. Prototyping & Design — Demonstrated experience designing wireframes, user interfaces and interactive prototypes with high attention to detail and the ability to rapidly prototype, test and iterate designs 2. Tertiary Qualifications — Qualifications in a design or computer science/ICT-related discipline such as Human Factors, Communication/Graphic Design, Systems Design, Psychology, Computer Interaction or Web Development
