About the Organisation Yolk Digital is seeking a Software Developer (Full Stack) to join the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR), supporting the Chief Information Officer Division's delivery of multiple ICT initiatives across the organisation. DISR plays a central role in the Australian Government's economic agenda, working to build a productive, resilient and sustainable economy through investment in science, technology and industry growth. The CIO Division provides enabling services and operations delivery to the department and Australian businesses, and is seeking experienced developers who can contribute quickly and effectively within fast-paced agile delivery teams. This is an opportunity to work across a diverse range of ICT initiatives, building modern, secure and scalable solutions that support DISR's digital agenda.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain secure .NET (8/10) backend services and REST APIs, including versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger and OAuth2/OIDC • Deliver React frontends that consume APIs and meet accessibility requirements • Integrate internal and third-party systems end-to-end, including messaging, event-driven architecture, identity and CRM platforms • Apply secure coding and SDLC controls including code scanning and secrets management via Key Vault • Write automated unit, integration and UI tests and enforce quality gates within CI/CD pipelines • Conduct peer code reviews in Azure DevOps and implement to agreed architecture and standards across API, security, performance and observability (App Insights) • Produce technical documentation, release notes and operational runbooks including handover materials • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies and options clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Collaborate with product, UX, security and operations teams within an agile delivery model • Mentor and support team members, promote cross-skilling and foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement

Essential Criteria

1. Tertiary qualifications in software engineering (or equivalent experience) and experience with cloud-native patterns: Event-driven integration, and data platforms (SQL Server/Azure SQL, Blob Storage, caching) including high-volume processing. 2. Technical skills: Minimum 10 years designing, building and supporting secure web solutions across backend and frontend, including modern .NET (8/10) & ASP.NET Web APIs; REST API design (versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2/OIDC); React and automated testing (unit/integration/UI) (e.g., xUnit/nUnit, Playwright/Selenium). 3. Cloud and DevOps: Hands-on Azure delivery/operations across App Services/Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus/Event Grid, API Management; CI/CD (Azure DevOps); monitoring (e.g., App Insights); third-party integration (e.g., Dynamics 365); and security controls (e.g., Key Vault) and legacy modernisation. 4. API-led delivery experience, including governance, OpenAPI/Swagger, performance and API security patterns. 5. Ways of working and security mindset: Familiar with ISM controls and applying them in build/design; effective across dispersed teams; able to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders; and mentor/collaborate to support team outcomes.

Desirable Criteria

1. Test automation and quality engineering in CI/CD (unit/integration/UI; e.g., Playwright/Selenium, Jest, static analysis). 2. Delivery approach: Experience delivering in multi-disciplinary Agile teams; able to adapt scope and approach as requirements and constraints evolve.
