About the Organisation Yolk Digital are looking to fulfil a Release Manager role with our client, the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). The IT Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of software releases across multiple environments. This role ensures that releases are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and align with business and technical requirements. The Release Manager works closely with delivery teams, vendors, business stakeholders, broader AEC and support functions to manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and maintain release integrity. About the Team The Funding and Disclosure Reform Program was established to enable the AEC to implement and administer legislative amendments to the Commonwealth Funding and Disclosure Scheme (the Scheme) as set out in Part XX of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 (Electoral Act) to increase transparency and accountability in Australia’s electoral system. The Program is made up of three branches – the Program Management Office Branch, the Regulatory Enablement Branch, and the Technology Delivery Branch – that will work together to uplift the AEC’s regulatory capability by designing, building and implementing new processes, resourcing, tools, systems and technology to successfully administer the Scheme.
• Develop and manage release schedules, calendars, and milestones across projects and platforms • Coordinate release activities across development, testing, and production environments • Ensure compliance with change management and governance frameworks • Facilitate release readiness reviews, and post-release retrospectives • Manage risks and resolve issues that may impact release scope, schedule, or quality • Collaborate with delivery managers, and vendors to align release plans • Maintain documentation of release processes, approvals, and deployment records • Support continuous improvement of release practices and automation tools • Ensure alignment with security, IDAM, and infrastructure requirements across multiple programs • Act as the central point of contact for release-related communications

Hybrid: Hybrid working arrangements (i.e. a combination of onsite attendance at the AEC’s National Office in Canberra and remote working) will be considered.
1. Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level release management in complex ICT environments. 2. Proven track record uplifting release frameworks, tools, and documentation practices. 3. Proven experience in IT release management and technical change management, or release coordination 4. Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and government security classifications 5. Experience with tools such as ServiceNow, or equivalent 6. Strong understanding of program governance, ICT delivery models (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid), and enterprise change processes. 7. Proven ability to coordinate multiple teams (Dev, QA, Ops, Vendors, etc). 8. Strong stakeholder management skills to handle conflicting priorities and negotiate release schedules. 9. Analytical and structured thinking with a focus on risk, assurance, and performance metrics. 10. Ability to lead cross-program alignment in environments with interdependent delivery streams.
1. Experience working in or alongside PMO/governance bodies for major programs. 2. Understanding of public sector ICT accountability and assurance frameworks. 3. Familiarity with security and operational readiness requirements in government environments. 4. Experience with enterprise deployment across cloud and hybrid platforms. 5. Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Project Management, or related field
