You'll join the CIO Group at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources as a Senior Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer, one of several cloud specialists being brought in to help deliver a range of ICT projects across the group. The CIO Group provides enabling services and operations delivery to the department and to Australian businesses, and it is looking for people with at least five years' cloud experience who can move between architecture and hands-on engineering. Your work centres on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. You'll develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures and high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems, write the detailed architecture guidance that cloud engineers build to, and provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of those systems. You'll analyse the impact of user and stakeholder requirements, keep enterprise and system solutions aligned with whole-of-government standards, and lend your expertise to platform automation: testing, continuous integration and deployment. You'll partner with cross-functional teams of business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects and testers, work alongside the department's Service Experience team so that architectural decisions reflect user experience, and liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to stay aligned to target architectures and technology. Along the way you'll champion the department's architecture principles (re-use before buy or build, configure over customise, open data and access over siloed functionality) and help solutions meet the DTA's Digital Service Standard. The role calls for someone strategic who leads and influences, not just delivers.

• Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures for Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. • Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems. • Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers. • Provide impact analysis of user and stakeholder requirements. • Ensure that enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards. • Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems. • Liaise with cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects and testers to produce solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and project objectives. • Liaise with the department's Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations. • Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to target architectures and technology. • Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation: testing, continuous integration and deployment. • Promote key enterprise architecture principles as applicable to cloud platforms: re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality. • Promote and provide assistance to ensure solutions align with the DTA's Digital Service Standard. • Be strategic, a leader and an influencer. • Undertake additional duties as required.

1. Cloud experience Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including: Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management; Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments; Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights; integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM; and Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control. 2. Cultural fit Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams, to work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels, and to collaborate with and mentor team members to promote team harmony. 3. Agile Experience working with Agile multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user-friendly and reliable solutions that meet stakeholder, citizen and business expectations, and the ability to pragmatically change direction and scope as new information is discovered and challenges or opportunities present themselves. 4. Technical skills Demonstrated experience (5+ years) implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies. The Cloud Architect/Engineer will liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for Microsoft Azure, and provide impact analysis and technical guidance in the design and development of project work aligned with whole-of-government standards.

1. Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks. 2. Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures. 3. Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture. 4. Minimum 3 years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems. Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.

Where you can, address the Desirable Criteria too, particularly technical leadership, 3+ years designing and documenting architectures for large enterprise systems, and any AWS or GCP experience.
